Location: TBD
Facilitators: Aþena Ýr Ingimundardóttir and Gamithra Marga
Application deadline: 10th of February
Duration: 8 weeks, 3-4 hour weekly commitment
Course starts: between 15th-23rd of February (determined based on participants' availability)
Suggested donation: 36,200 kr
The course is developed with insights from leading AI experts, and offer a foundational understanding of the advancing landscape of AI safety. The main focus of the course is addressing safety concerns associated with highly advanced AI systems, such as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Transformative Artificial Intelligence (TAI). This focus distinguishes the courses from more conventional AI safety programs that might concentrate on immediate applications like autonomous vehicles. Instead, we explore societal-scale risks posed by extremely capable AI systems.
The study materials are in English, although discussions can be held in Icelandic depending on the preferences of the cohort.
Each week of the course contains about two hours of self-study materials, accompanied by in-person discussion sessions. Course certificate included upon completion.
We do offer the course free of charge; however, we've set the suggested donation to 36200 ISK to help us cover the cost of facilitated discussion sessions and light refreshments.
The course is built on materials by BlueDot Impact, developed by leading AI experts, and is suitable for both if you are seriously considering a career in AI safety or just exploring the field. This project is part of a collaborative initiative with AI Safety Collab, a Nordic organization focused on education about AI safety.
